Second Annual (2010) Hike for the Cure

The second annual Hike for the Cure on the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail (LOViT) sponsored by Project Pink Awareness was held on Saturday, April 18, 2010. Fifty-nine eager participants braved the forecast for rain and came out to enjoy the hike.

Many of the participants were hiking the trail for the first time and enjoyed a beautiful view of Lake Ouachita as well as the dogwood trees in full bloom. Despite the rain, all fifty-nine hikers finished either a 1.7, 3, or 4.7 mile leg of the trail and had a great time in the process.

Project Pink Awareness sponsors the event to help bring awareness to breast cancer as well as to promote the LOViT trail. Local breast cancer survivors participating in the hike were acknowledged before the event began; they serve as an inspiration to all that breast cancer is survivable.
